18th Nature Photo Days
Hunsrück 19 - 21 November 2021

In the almost two decades of its existence, the Naturfototage Hunsrück have developed into the most important event of its kind in south-west Germany. It takes place at the Idar-Oberstein Exhibition Centre, which offers ideal conditions with state-of-the-art technology and spacious premises in which all hygiene regulations then in force can be optimally observed. At its 18th edition from 19 to 21 November 2021, the event will once again feature a spectacular programme with some of Germany's most renowned nature and landscape photographers, taking visitors to five continents. On the opening evening, Peter Gebhard will take visitors on a 15,000-kilometre adventurous journey across Europe from Istanbul to the North Cape in his "big van adventure". The multi-award-winning photographer Ingo Arndt has brought back spectacular shots of the pumas living in the wild Patagonia at the southern tip of America. In 2012, Stefan Christmann spent 14 months as a geophysicist at the German research station Neumayer 3 in Antarctica, and in 2017 he travelled there as an expedition photographer and cameraman on behalf of the BBC to document the life of the emperor penguins in Atka Bay. Christmann has won numerous international photography awards, including the prestigious NHM Wildlife Photographer of the Year Portfolio Award in 2019. The nature photographer, book author and environmental activist Markus Mauthe spent three years searching for people who still live as close as possible to the roots of their culture and with the cycles of nature, away from our modern world, and travelled to crisis-ridden South Sudan, to the beautiful island worlds of Indonesia or to the north-easternmost tip of Russia, among other places. Andrea Nuss undertook a 700-kilometre camel tour on ancient caravan routes during her "Sahara Adventure". Nature photographer Sebastian Caspary travelled the Yukon and Alaska. Jon A. Juarez shows the encounters of refugee children living in a shelter in a former barracks in Berlin with the foxes that also live there. The photographers Uwe Wuller and Sandra and Wolfgang Walkowiak present two "unequal sisters", namely the North Sea islands of Sylt and Amrum with their dune, heath and mudflat landscapes.

We look forward to your visit.
