This, the fifth stage, is the shortest of the Pfälzer Höhenweg with only 13 kilometres. This leaves us plenty of time to explore the historic old towns at the beginning and end in more detail. The Perterstürmchen is the only remaining tower of the town wall which still watches over the rooftops of Obermoschel. In the Old Town, the great history of this, the smallest Palatinate town can be seen when walking past the centuries-old buildings and narrow alleyways. The tour then continues up the Kahlforsterhöhe along the Schiersfelder Höhe to the village of Callbach with its 700-year-old Protestant Church. The route then goes downhill over the Glanbrücke, under which the former border between Bavaria and Prussia was situated. The former city gate "Untertor" marks the arrival in the old town of Meisenheim, which displays its 700 year old history almost unscathed.
