Pfälzer Höhenweg Stage 4: Rockenhausen - Obermoschel

The hill range track leads to the Roman "Villa Rustica" at Katzenbach. It is one of the most important testimonies of the Roman West Palatinate. The Donnersberg on the right takes us to the back of the Stahlberg where information boards tell the tale of times when prospecting for silver was commonplace. In the village of Stahlberg, you can stop for a refreshment. The tour then continues to the North, where a side-trip to the ruins of Randeck near  Mannenweiler-Cölln invites you to enjoy the views over the Alsenz Valley and the Donnersberg. The vineyards along the rivers of Moschel and Alsenz escort you to the ruins Moschellandsburg. First mentioned in documents dating back to round 1130 the castle destroyed by flames in the late 16th century. The gate tower and impressive walls are witness to its former impregnability. A few steps then lead down into the valley to our day’s destination of Obermoschel.
