This easy HeimatSpuren circuit starts in Deudesfeld at the car park at the entrance to the village coming from Meerfeld. From here, a paved path leads in the direction of the lava pit that gave the hiking trail its name. At the end of the pit, the trail continues via Jungenland and the Maar saddle up to the highest point of the crater elevation. There, on the wooden 12-metre-high "Landesblick" lookout tower, you can admire an impressive panorama. In front of you in the depths is the Meerfeld Maar and behind it the Mosenberg as well as a magnificent all-round view of the region around Manderscheid. The trail then leads down into the valley of the Kleine Kyll along the idyllic course of the stream, past the Bleckhausenermühle (Bleckhausen mill) (dating from the 18th century) and through the unspoilt Speicherbach valley back to Deudesfeld.
Highlights along the way:
• 0.2 km Deudesfeld lava pit
