AhrSteig Stage 4: Insul - Kreuzberg

From Insul it goes in constant increase through shady forest up to Sierscheid. Here we only briefly touch the outskirts, already the trail leads us out on the open plateau of Dümpelhardt. The plateau is an Eldorado for model airplane builders who put their home-made sail and motor aircraft here an acid test. Our hiker's heart, on the other hand, is thrilled with the fabulous panoramic view, one of the most spectacular on the entire Ahrsteig. It's hard for us to break away from it. About meadows and forest paths, it goes down to Liersbachtal. Here over the K 28 and then in a long, but not too steep climb on the plateau "Ober Hockert Cross" in the district Hönningen. Past meadows and woodland we reach after a further increase the high place Lind. And again we are surprised by a panorama that opens up the whole beauty of the Ahrgebirge. The view extends far beyond the Ahrhöhen. A little insider tip: If you would like to explore this panoramic view more extensively, you should take a closer look at the panorama circular walk from Lind. At the Nativity Chapel in Lind benches invite you to linger - opportunity to enjoy the wide view in peace. On the descent, we briefly touch the connecting road to Ahrbrück. But it goes straight again in a slight increase in the forest. Below the wooded hilltop of Kotzbergs then leads a long descent on some adventurous paths down to the friendly village Kreuzberg. Above the village perched on a rock spur the castle Kreuzberg, which is the only inhabited castle in the Ahrtal privately owned.
