Vintners' cooperative Mayschoss-Altenahr e.G.
What began in 1868 with a manageable 18 people has long since become a success story of the Ahr valley. Today we are a community with 432 members from Mayschoss, Altenahr and Walporzheim, which together cover about 150 hectares. of vineyards.
"Joy of wine" has been our philosophy for 150 years. We combine tradition with innovation and our winegrowers have always been committed to this philosophy.
The red grapes and the unique Mediterranean microclimate, which gives rise to an unmistakable taste profile, characterize our vineyards. The most important grape variety is Pinot Noir, but also Frühburgunder, Portugieser or Domina bring us excellent wines. Among the white grape varieties, Riesling is predominant. For some years now, the Blanc de Noir has been considered a speciality, which we obtain from the Spätburgunder grape and process like a white wine.
Being a cooperative with a "we-feeling" enables us to work out together all the strengths that our vineyards offer us.
