Aspisheim · Rheinhessen

With a low pointed arch, the 13th century chancel located in the basement of the choir tower opens up to the nave added in 1824. The simple, small room offers a great impression due to the almost closed painting from the late 15th century. Apart from the depiction of the Man of Sorrows and various saints, including Saint Martin on horseback, the cycle of paintings on the north wall is particularly interesting. It depicts the parable of poor Lazarus and the rich glutton, whose souls are received by an angel or devil at death. Liebfrauenland - Gothic in Rheinhessen
