Edelsteinminen im Steinkaulenberg

Idar-Oberstein · Naheland

You will feel as if you have been transported to a fairytale cave in this gemstone gallery, which is open to visitors. Not only uniquely beautiful agates, but also glittering rock crystals, amethysts, smoky quartz and jasper can be admired here. On the 400-metre-long tour through the visitor's gallery, an expert guide will tell you a lot of interesting facts about the creation and processing of the gemstones. Equipped with a protective helmet, you can discover some uniquely beautiful glittering gemstones.
Before mining tunnels were built, gemstone diggers searched for minerals above ground. Visitors are still welcome to do this today, equipped with picks, pickaxes and spades. Of course, the minerals found may be kept. Pre-registration is required for the gemstone camp and the prospecting fields.
For the gemstone camp and the prospecting fields, please bring sturdy shoes, protective gloves, safety goggles, hammer, chisel, bucket or other containers!

Please note: Footpath from the visitors' car park to the entrance of the Steinkaulenberg gemstone mine (approx. 15 minutes' walk).

Small dogs in arms are allowed. Leashed dogs are allowed
