The “Weyrichsbruch”
- A Spring-Bog in the High-Forest

This spring moorland, in the vernacular also named “highmoor”, lain in the Osburger high-forest and almost 7 hectare big, remains up to date a spring moorland, kept in a natural state by its proprietor, the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Consequently, all the care-work in the moor is carried out by the responsible forest superintendent's office in Dhronecken. The Osburger high-forest is situated in the core-zone of the natural park “Saar-Hunsrück”.
Already in the year 1968/69, for the first time a "stick-dam" with spruce-round-woods was built on a length of 300 m at the western edge of this spring-bog. It offers to the forest-visitors the possibility to hike through the “Weyrichsbruch” without really having to enter the precious biotope.
In the meantime, this stick-dam became not only part of the 10 km long “Rösterkopf” round-hiking-trail but also bound in the premium hiking trail "Saar-Hunsrück-Steig."
